Mission Prep provides structure, treatment, and hope for adolescents ages 12 to 17, supporting sustainable change and giving families the fresh start they need. Mission Prep's Via Monte Alegre home in Bonsall offers care for male and male-identifying teens struggling with anxiety, depression, and trauma. Built around individual therapy, family involvement, and experiential care, the 6-bed residence keeps groups intimate while creating a genuine sense of community.

Build Skills through Weekly Therapy

Each week brings two individual therapy sessions, one family session, and two clinical mentoring sessions, using cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) to build coping skills. Licensed clinicians integrate Rock to Recovery music therapy, yoga, gardening groups, and nutrition education to round out clinical care. Sessions target anxiety, depression, trauma, and mood disorders through a steady, predictable rhythm.

Settle into Active Daily Life

The 6-bed home offers double-occupancy rooms, with a single room available when space allows, plus private therapy rooms, shared lounges, and a shaded backyard porch. A chef prepares daily meals, while staff supervise personal phone and laptop use. Teens participate in biweekly surf therapy, monthly skateboarding, and one to two weekly outings of their choice, from the beach to go-karting.

Prepare for Life after Treatment

A biweekly family program, a Wednesday family support group, and weekly individual family therapy sessions keep parents and guardians actively involved throughout treatment, equipping them to support their teen long after returning home. Clinicians design tailored discharge plans around each resident's specific diagnosis and home environment, establishing community referrals and follow-up counseling well before residential care fully ends.

Heal in an All-Boys Setting
Heal in an All-Boys Setting
The Via Monte Alegre home houses male and male-identifying teens only, so residents build trust and process shared experiences like peer pressure, identity, or self-esteem without a mixed-gender dynamic in the room. Gender-specific group therapy runs alongside individual sessions to reinforce that same sense of safety, and staff train specifically for this population's needs.
Keep Academics on Track
Keep Academics on Track
A dedicated study area and school resources let residents keep up with coursework while in residential care, rather than falling behind during treatment. Staff coordinate directly with each teen's home school on assignments, testing accommodations, and grades, so academics stay part of the recovery plan instead of an afterthought once treatment ends.
Stay Active beyond Therapy Hours
Stay Active beyond Therapy Hours
Residents join personal training and boxing classes one to two times a week, plus daily supervised access to the on-site gym. Physical activity is built into the weekly schedule alongside therapy, giving teens a healthy, structured outlet for stress, extra energy, and the mood benefits that come with regular movement.
Access Support around the Clock
Access Support around the Clock
Mission Prep maintains a full care team on-site: therapists, nurses, case managers, behavioral health technicians, community managers, and a chef who handles meals for the whole house daily. Beyond scheduled therapy sessions, team members are available around the clock to supervise daily life and respond immediately to a difficult moment.
