About Golden Coast Rehab
Combining county-contracted mental health services and state-certified addiction treatment at one La Mesa facility, Golden Coast Rehab offers 2 separate programs led by one clinical team. The mental health track helps adults manage psychiatric symptoms and daily challenges, while the addiction track focuses on withdrawal, substance use, and relapse prevention. Clients with both conditions can receive coordinated support, with Medi-Cal coverage and housing assistance available to eligible adults across San Diego County.
Follow Separate Paths With Coordinated Support
The team begins with an assessment to match clients with the right program. For mental health, partial hospitalization (PHP) provides about 6 hours of weekday therapy through individual counseling, small-group sessions, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), and dialectical behavior therapy (DBT). A psychiatrist manages medication, and clients can step down to intensive outpatient care (IOP), with up to 12 weeks across both programs. For substance use, eligible clients begin with medically monitored outpatient detox, followed by IOP counseling, medication-assisted treatment (MAT), or both. Standard outpatient sessions provide continued support for managing cravings and preventing relapse.
Plan Housing Alongside Treatment
For clients without stable housing, the center connects them with sober living and transitional housing partners, including a recuperative care network with more than 140 beds. Eligible clients can access these arrangements while attending scheduled sessions. They accept all 4 San Diego County Medi-Cal managed care plans, subject to coverage requirements. When clients need residential, inpatient, or other services beyond their programs, the team helps arrange referrals to appropriate providers.
Center Overview
Supportive Medication for Recovery
Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT) is an evidence-based approach that pairs FDA-approved medications with counseling to treat addiction. The medications are used to reduce cravings, ease withdrawal symptoms, or block the effects of substances. More about MAT
Methadone
Naltrexone
Buprenorphine
Note: Treatment centers offer different forms of MAT—such as oral tablets, dissolvable films, or monthly injections—and their policies can vary based on state regulations, provider preferences, and insurance coverage. Because of these differences, it's best to contact the center directly to learn what options are available and what might be right for your situation.
