The Joint Commission accreditation is a voluntary, objective process that evaluates and accredits healthcare organizations (like treatment centers) based on performance standards designed to improve quality and safety for patients. To be accredited means the treatment center has been found to meet the Commission's standards for quality and safety in patient care.
We work with most major insurance companies, including both in-network and out-of-network payers, to optimize access to care for families and teens affected by addiction.

About Newport Academy Northern California
Newport Academy has 2 gender-specific treatment centers in Northern California, each caring for teens ages 12-17. They use a combination of clinical, academic, holistic, and experiential care to give each teen a well-rounded healing experience. Newport Academy also teaches teens the life skills and self acceptance that allows them to ease their transition into adulthood. They involve family throughout the healing journey, offering education on substance use and mental health for patients’ loved ones.
Newport Academy’s gender-specific teen rehab centers address the differences and needs of males and females. Each patient receives a tailored treatment plan, backed by the expertise of doctors, psychiatrists, family therapist, nurses, and a dietician. Adventure therapies include hiking, rock climbing, kayaking, and more depending on location and season. Newport Academy includes family in the healing process too, inviting them to be as involved as possible. Family therapy and support for parents complements the treatment their teen receives.
Newport Academy is located in the San Francisco Bay Area, with access to Marin Headlands, Mount Tamalpais, Point Reyes National Seashore, and Muir Woods National Monument. Major airports in their Sacramento and Bay Area location are easy to get to, and close to their centers. Teens share a room with a roommate, sharing one private bathroom between the two. Common areas in each residential home provide a comfortable and safe environment for group therapy, relaxing, or talking with other peers.
Newport Academy is accredited by the Joint Commission for behavioral health, American Psychological Association, and International Association of Eating Disorder Professionals. With centers across America, they’re a trusted resource for mental health and addiction treatment–for teens and their families.

More Newport Healthcare Locations
Newport Academy’s Northern California locations house teens in gender-specific homes. They treat each teen with the individualized care they need and deserve–no two teens are alike, and neither is their treatment. Newport’s team of professionals work to create custom care, using evidence-based methods with proven results and trackable, successful outcomes. No two families are alike either, making their care plan just as personal.
Teens continue school in treatment, led by Newport Academy’s accredited teachers. Just like their therapeutic care, teens receive an individualized academic plan, with 1-1 tutoring and peer support. This all begins in the same supportive and safe environment of treatment, with all academics on site and led by Newport’s teaching staff. Parents meet with teachers in parent-teacher meetings, allowing for connections and engagement between everyone involved.
Newport Academy extends healing to the whole family. Master-level therapists lead attachment-based family therapy to help teens and their parents heal strained relationships and make healthy ones. Educational sessions support parents in learning more about addiction and mental health, helping them become the supportive allies they strive to be. Together, teens and their families learn how to move forward with hope and cope with challenges as they come.
Newport Academy’s Northern California locations bring teens out into nature. Adventure outings help make recovery something teens approach with excitement, going on trips down rapids, rock climbing, hiking, and spending time in nearby parks. Adventure in each season inspires teens with therapeutic guidance and support as they try new things and experience life in recovery.
