The Joint Commission accreditation is a voluntary, objective process that evaluates and accredits healthcare organizations (like treatment centers) based on performance standards designed to improve quality and safety for patients. To be accredited means the treatment center has been found to meet the Commission's standards for quality and safety in patient care.

About Horizon Recovery - Buckeye
Horizon understands that teens require a different kind of care— one that speaks directly to their developmental, emotional, and social needs. Their Arrowhead location offers residential treatment that addresses a wide range of challenges—OCD, PTSD, self-harm, suicidal ideation, and substance addiction. With a deep commitment to family involvement and life skill development, teens not only recover but rediscover their strength and hope for the future.
At Horizon, teens receive more than just treatment—they receive care that’s tailored to who they are and what they need. Their team of clinicians specialize in all things adolescent mental health and addiction, offering more than traditional therapies alone. With a blend of approaches like dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), family therapy, and medication management, as well as holistic experiences like pet therapy, equine therapy, yoga, and meditation, clients’ mind, body, and spirit are nurtured.
Teens can step away from outside pressures and focus fully on their recovery at Horizon. With comfortable, home-like living environments and access to nature, every detail of their stay is infused with connection and well-being. The structured schedule encourages adolescents to build healthy routines and lean into the community around them.
Understanding that recovery doesn’t end at discharge, Horizon helps teens and families transition back into daily life with continued structure and support. Aftercare options include outpatient therapy, relapse prevention planning, and connecting with members of the alumni program, so teens know they’re never alone. Their case managers coordinate with community and school resources as well, to encourage a seamless transition back into daily life.

From the very first conversation, Horizon goes above and beyond to support, inform, and guide families through the treatment journey. They are greeted with a warm welcome packet to set expectations and ease worries. Families also work with a dedicated liaison who offers consistent updates so families never feel left in the dark. Through weekly family therapy sessions, whether virtual or in-person, they help families unpack strained dynamics and improve communication.
Teens often struggle with both mental health challenges and substance use, so treating one without the other simply isn’t enough. The dual diagnosis care at Horizon is designed to treat the whole teen—mind, body, and behavior. The expert team helps teens unpack the deeper issues behind anxiety, depression, trauma, and other mental health conditions while learning healthy tools to manage them.
Horizon goes beyond therapy to equip teens with real-world skills they need to thrive. From managing emotions to setting boundaries to cooking, budgeting, time management, and communication, their programming helps teens build confidence and independence step by step. By the end of the program, they will learn to navigate everyday challenges and take ownership of their future.
Academic Progress is an essential part of the healing journey at Horizon. Their dedicated Education Coordinator provides personalized one-on-one and small group learning sessions tailored to each teen’s needs. Whether a student is enrolled in online school or working through skill-building lessons on-site, every day of treatment includes focused time to maintain academic progress.
