Terry McGuire

Background

Terry McGuire is Senior Executive Producer at Recovery.com, where she produces and hosts two of the country’s leading mental health podcasts, RECOVERable and Giving Voice to Depression.

For more than 45 years, Terry has helped people share their stories—first as a television news reporter and anchor in a top-30 market and now through her work in podcasting and mental health advocacy.

Her focus shifted to mental health nearly a decade ago after she lost family members to suicide and endured the deepest depression of her own life. Those experiences led her to establish a nonprofit organization and use storytelling to help others feel less alone.

Current Work

Today, Terry produces and hosts two of the country’s leading mental health podcasts, RECOVERable and Giving Voice to Depression.

For more than 500 consecutive weeks, Terry has shared candid conversations on Giving Voice to Depression with people who have lived through depression, offering listeners a vital message: You are not alone, and there are paths out of—and through—the darkness. The show ranks among the top 1% of podcasts worldwide, according to Listen Notes.

In October 2025, Terry began hosting the weekly RECOVERable podcast. Within nine months, it reached the top 10 on Apple Podcasts’ mental health chart. Each week, she speaks with behavioral health experts about addiction, mental health conditions, and the therapeutic approaches available to manage and treat them.

At the heart of Terry’s work is a steadfast belief in the power of honest conversation to reduce shame, deepen understanding, and sustain hope.

Interests

When she is not behind a microphone, Terry enjoys creating mosaics and transforming her new living space into a safe and nurturing home. She is the proud mother of two adult children, both of whom are members of the Giving Voice to Depression team.
