Viewing addiction as a chronic brain disease rather than a choice, The Aviary Recovery Center's Lee's Summit outpatient center provides a day treatment program (PHP), an intensive outpatient program (IOP), and telehealth services for adults with substance use disorders (SUD), including alcohol, opioids, heroin, benzodiazepines, and prescription drugs. The center provides weekly individual and group therapy and a Family Wellness Program covering addiction, coping strategies, communication, healthy boundaries, and recovery planning.

Putting Recovery Into Practice

Treatment includes cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), relapse prevention, mindfulness, meditation, addiction education, 12-Step education, and life skills development. The team also addresses co-occurring issues that affect recovery through individual, group, or family sessions. IOP meets three times a week with morning and evening tracks, while PHP provides structured daytime treatment Monday through Thursday.
