Dorchester County Behavioral Health is a CARF-accredited outpatient program that provides services to adolescents ages 12–17 and adults experiencing substance use and behavioral health disorders, including co-occurring conditions. The center offers several levels of care, including Level 0.5 Early Intervention and DWI Education, Level 1 Outpatient Services, and Level 2.1 Intensive Outpatient Services. Clients also have access to Medication-Assisted Treatment and psychiatric evaluations to support their recovery needs.

Therapeutic Approach & Client Benefits

Treatment includes individual and group counseling, motivational interviewing, and cognitive behavioral therapy. The outpatient program uses the Seeking Safety curriculum, a trauma-informed model designed to address substance use and PTSD. The intensive outpatient program incorporates the A New Direction curriculum, which focuses on helping clients identify and change addictive or impulsive thinking patterns. Through structured therapy, education, and medical support, clients learn practical tools for managing emotions, preventing relapse, and maintaining progress in recovery.

Additional Programs & Collaborative Elements

Dorchester County Behavioral Health provides a DWI Education Program, a 12-hour course completed over six weeks, for individuals with driving under the influence charges. They also partner with Drug Court, Veterans Court, and the Dorchester Addiction Reentry and Treatment program within the county jail. Recovery support continues through collaborations with care coordination services, harm reduction initiatives, and Dri-Dock Recovery and Wellness Center, which offers peer-led programs and connections to community resources.
