One of the Essentia Health locations, St. Joseph’s Medical Center has an inpatient psychiatric unit that sits in Brainerd and admits adults experiencing anxiety, bipolar disorder, depression, PTSD, and schizophrenia. Addiction medicine physicians consult directly across the care team to treat substance use disorders as well, including alcohol, opioid, stimulant, and tobacco use disorder.
Therapies and Clinical Services
St. Joseph’s Medical Center runs individual, family, and group sessions centering on coping skills and how patients manage stress and triggers day to day. Through milieu therapy, patients practice healthier responses to difficult situations within a supervised environment. Activity therapists lead art, music, and recreation therapy as part of regular programming.
