About Aurora Psychiatric Hospital
Founded in 1884, the Aurora Psychiatric Hospital serves children, teens, and adults with mental, behavioral, and addiction issues. The hospital addresses conditions such as depression, bipolar disorder, psychosis, self-harm, anxiety, co-occurring disorders, eating disorders, opioid use, schizophrenia, anger, stress, attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), suicidality, obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), trauma, perinatal mental health concerns, and alcohol and drug addiction involving cocaine, heroin, psychedelics, marijuana, and methamphetamine.
A Full Continuum of Support for All
The 105-bed hospital provides inpatient, partial hospitalization (PHP), outpatient, and intensive outpatient programs (IOP) for adults 18+, along with a 28-day residential program at the Dewey Center, as well as detox and co-occurring disorder treatment. For children and adolescents, services include inpatient care, an PHP for ages 9-18. The 30-acre campus also includes the Kradwell School for students in grades 5–12 who need alternative educational support.
Evidence-based Care Since 1884
Services include individual, group, and family therapy, along with assessment and psychiatric evaluation, case management, medication evaluation and management, psychoeducation, skill-building groups, and relapse prevention. Evidence-based approaches used at the hospital include cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR), exposure therapy, mindfulness and meditation, and 12-Step facilitation. Telepsychiatry is also available throughout Southeast Wisconsin.
