For those needing a high level of support in healing from mental health disorders, Geisinger Behavioral Health Center Northeast offers inpatient psychiatric treatment for teens (ages 13 to 17) and adults (18+), as well as a PHP program. Geisinger helps patients with conditions, such as depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, psychosis, obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). While they primarily treat mental health disorders, they may accept patients with co-occurring substance use disorders.

It’s ideal for those with severe or ongoing mental health symptoms needing intensive (24/7) and immediate care. Admissions requires a primary psychiatric diagnosis by a physician and the program typically lasts 5 to 7 days.

Step Down to a PHP program

For those who do not need 24/7 support, their partial hospitalization program (PHP) provides care 5 days a week during the day for 7 to 12 weeks. Patients balance treatment with outside life and return home each evening.
