Mental Health Cooperative
Founded in 1993, Mental Health Cooperative (MHC) was created to make behavioral healthcare more accessible for individuals facing mental health and substance use challenges, and complex social needs. Guided by a vision of healthy communities where everyone has access to care, they provide comprehensive support that addresses both clinical concerns and the realities of everyday life. Across Middle Tennessee, clients can access individual and group therapy, psychiatric evaluations, medication management, substance use treatment, primary care, case management, housing support, peer services, and crisis intervention. Their approach emphasizes coordinated, whole-person care that helps individuals build stability, improve functioning, and maintain long-term recovery. Community-Based Care Beyond Traditional TreatmentMental Health Cooperative provides a continuum of mental health care, primary care, housing support, and crisis services through a coordinated network of programs. Services include individual and group therapy, psychiatric care, medication management, substance use treatment, case management, peer support, and primary healthcare, along with programs such as mobile crisis response, crisis stabilization, supported housing, care coordination, assertive community treatment (ACT), and certified community behavioral health clinic (CCBHC) services. Together, these services address the clinical, physical, and practical challenges that affect recovery. While therapy and psychiatric care help individuals manage mental health symptoms, programs such as housing support, care coordination, and crisis services provide assistance with day-to-day needs and access to ongoing resources. By offering support across multiple areas of a person’s life, Mental Health Cooperative helps clients engage with treatment while navigating responsibilities, challenges, and transitions that often accompany the recovery process.
