About Alternatives in Psychological Consultation
Located just off West Capitol Dr near North 100th Street in Milwaukee, Alternatives in Psychological Consultation (APC) supports individuals of all ages facing mental health and substance use challenges. This center offers outpatient therapy, care coordination, crisis support, trauma-informed and strength-based care. APC accepts Medicaid, Medicare, private insurance, and a sliding fee scale to support affordability.
APC uses evidence-based and person-centered therapies to help clients achieve their goals. Therapy options include cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR), motivational interviewing, art therapy, and mindfulness. Whether treating depression, trauma, anxiety, or co-occurring conditions, clinicians tailor care based on each client’s readiness for change—building on their natural strengths to foster resilience and self-worth.
In addition to counseling, APC offers case management, tutoring, housing assistance, and parenting support. Youth enrolled in Wraparound Milwaukee or Comprehensive Community Services receive coordinated care that includes their families. Clients also benefit from life skills coaching, social skills training, and in-home crisis support to promote stability, confidence, and long-term independence.
