Following detox and residential care, clients can choose to participate in outpatient treatment and on-going aftercare. Their New Mexico program offers a partial hospitalization program (PHP) and an intensive outpatient program (IOP). Continued support can be given through regular check-ins with therapists and healthcare providers, outpatient therapy, attending support group meetings, and working with peer support specialists.

Along with aftercare, Vanguard provides life coaching from certified sobriety coaches, and intervention services for clients and families.
