About Southern California Sunrise
Southern California Sunrise is a residential mental health facility that helps patients find stability and move toward lasting recovery without fear of judgment. They tailor treatment to each patient’s diagnosis, finding the combination of evidence-based and holistic therapies that works best for their mental health needs. To strengthen care, they assembled new clinical and operations teams, enhanced programming with nutrition, art, and equine therapy, and added dedicated medication management services.
Find Practical Solutions for Managing Mental Health
The patient and treatment team work together to create a treatment plan to manage symptoms, address underlying causes, and improve daily functioning. Personalized plans include:
- Psychiatric care
- Twice weekly individual therapy
- Daily group sessions
- Family therapy
- Life skills development
Evidence-based therapies help patients process trauma, reshape thinking patterns, regulate emotions, reduce tension, and re-author their life stories, while holistic practices like sound baths, breathwork, nutrition support, art therapy, and reiki nurture overall well-being.
Heal in a Comfortable, Home-Like Setting
Patients live and receive treatment in gender-specific homes for up to 6 patients on a quiet suburban street in Mission Viejo. Patients stay in private or semi-private bedrooms, socialize in common areas like the covered patio, and eat meals prepared in-house and catered from local restaurants. They also visit a local gym 2–3 times weekly to use the equipment, take yoga classes, and benefit from hydrotherapy.
Maintain Long-Term Gains Post-Discharge
Southern California Sunrise helps patients prepare for life after treatment with strategies for sustained mental wellness, like recognizing early warning signs, strengthening support networks, and creating self-care routines. Step-down care may include referrals to intensive outpatient programs, ongoing individual and family therapy, check-ins with the treatment team, and 24/7 crisis support. An alumni group meets weekly on Zoom to help patients stay connected to a supportive recovery community.
