About Sheepgate Women's Program
Sheepgate is a donor-run rehab program and a division of Adult + Teen Challenge of the Midlands that provides faith-based, gender-specific treatment for women ages 19+. Their 12-month program is highly structured and different from many traditional recovery programs. One of the key differentiators is that Sheepgates' program is focused on Christ and faith-centered teachings. They use biblical principles to overcome the difficulties of addiction, and mental health conditions like depression and anxiety. Sheepgate also helps women struggling with hoarding and other compulsions. Through their discipleship program, residents will learn how to apply God's work in their lives through instruction, independent study, 1-on-1 counseling, work-ethics instruction, and participation in the Christian society.
The women's-only program takes place on a beautiful 10-acre property in Beatrice, Nebraska. Originally a bed and breakfast, the house is now a safe haven for females in recovery. The land is decorated with a sizable garden, poultry, and wildlife. During the program, women take care of the on-site chickens, garden, meal prepping, and house cleaning.
The structured program typically begins at 6:15 a.m. and the ladies have breakfast on their own. At 8:00, women meet in the chapel where they have morning worship and personal devotion; time. After chapel, workshops are held teaching what it's like to be a Christian and valuable skills needed to overcome addiction. The afternoon is for work detail, which consists of taking care of the house and on-site animals.
Sheepgate has a strong work program for residents to learn new skills. They work with many other companies that hire the residents. Additionally, they help those who desire to get their GED if not already obtained. Family involvement is also a key component of the program. Their onsite coordinators keep in touch with the individual's parents, other family members, and/or spouse on a regular basis to offer support through prayer and words of encouragement. Every year, they host a Family Day for partners, parents, kids, and other family members so that everyone can find healing and restoration.
Seepgate boasts of a 70% percent success rate and upon acceptance into the program, residents are simply asked to pay a small intake fee of $750. Commitment is key to the program's success and the compassionate staff at Sheepgate desires the best for everyone in their program.
