About Wayside House, Inc. - Family Treatment Center
One of only a few residential programs in Minnesota where mothers can live with up to three children, ages birth to 11, the Wayside House Family Treatment Center offers a safe, nurturing space for pregnant women and mothers to heal from substance use and related mental health needs. Stays typically last 90 to 120 days, giving families time to recover together.
Build Parenting Skills to Break Generational Cycles
Parenting education helps mothers build skills that interrupt generational cycles of addiction and trauma. Certified birth educators support pregnancy needs, and family counselors work with children on site or off site to strengthen relationships. Together these services help mothers gain confidence, repair family bonds, and build a stable foundation for lasting recovery.
Simplify Daily Life for the Whole Family
Mothers and their children share a family-friendly living space, with indoor and outdoor play areas and rooms designed for mothers and kids to share, as well as on-site meals that accommodate dietary needs. The program also arranges transportation to daycare, prenatal appointments, and school, removing common logistical barriers that can keep mothers from completing treatment.
Center Overview

Supportive Medication for Recovery
Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT) is an evidence-based approach that pairs FDA-approved medications with counseling to treat addiction. The medications are used to reduce cravings, ease withdrawal symptoms, or block the effects of substances. More about MAT
Methadone
Naltrexone
Buprenorphine
This center accepts patients receiving MAT prescribed elsewhere for opioid use disorder, but does not provide MAT.
Note: Treatment centers offer different forms of MAT—such as oral tablets, dissolvable films, or monthly injections—and their policies can vary based on state regulations, provider preferences, and insurance coverage. Because of these differences, it's best to contact the center directly to learn what options are available and what might be right for your situation.
