About New Frontier Recovery Center
New Frontier Recovery Center treats adults with alcohol, opioid, stimulant, and benzodiazepine use at a 14-bed facility on 30 private acres just outside Billings, Montana. Medically monitored detox and residential care share one property, so clients move between levels of care without changing teams or buildings. Clinicians address co-occurring depression, anxiety, and trauma-related symptoms alongside addiction instead of being set aside until later.
Move from Detox into Residential Care
The 6-bed detox unit offers private rooms and 24-hour clinical monitoring, with Suboxone used when clinically appropriate for opioid withdrawal. Clients then step down to 8 residential beds on the same property without a transfer. Medication is given at set times each day, with rest built in between. Length of stay follows clinical progress rather than a fixed schedule, and the team reassesses the plan throughout.
Treat Addiction and Mental Health Together
Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), motivational interviewing, and trauma therapy address substance use and co-occurring conditions at the same time, since untreated depression or anxiety often drives relapse. Each approach is matched to the client, and the plan is adjusted as progress is made. Individual, group, and family sessions fill structured days, and family visits are arranged by appointment with a clinician.
Heal in a Small, Private Setting
14 beds keep the facility small on purpose, so staff can know each person and supervise care closely. Wood floors, exposed beams, and a loft lounge overlooking the main living area give clients quiet places to rest between sessions, and meals are shared in a full kitchen and dining area. Admissions answers the phone around the clock, and out-of-state clients are welcome.

Supportive Medication for Recovery
Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT) is an evidence-based approach that pairs FDA-approved medications with counseling to treat addiction. The medications are used to reduce cravings, ease withdrawal symptoms, or block the effects of substances. More about MAT
Methadone
Naltrexone
Buprenorphine
Note: Treatment centers offer different forms of MAT—such as oral tablets, dissolvable films, or monthly injections—and their policies can vary based on state regulations, provider preferences, and insurance coverage. Because of these differences, it's best to contact the center directly to learn what options are available and what might be right for your situation.
