About Bonus Round Recovery
Founded by two people who triumphed over addiction, Bonus Round Recovery offers clients the opportunity to do the same. Their facility in central San Diego offers partial hospitalization (PHP) and intensive outpatient (IOP) programs, with supportive housing available. With an intimate 8:1 client-to-clinician ratio, they craft bespoke treatment plans that honor each client’s story, mitigate co-occurring mental health challenges, and foster not just abstinence, but a vibrant, empowered life.
Focus on Whole-Person Healing
Bonus Round goes beyond treating substance use. Using an evidence-based approach, they focus on healing mentally, emotionally, and physically. With an emphasis on cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), clients learn to change negative thought patterns, regulate emotions, manage triggers, and build healthier behaviors. The structured curriculum helps clients build a strong foundation and develop real-life coping skills for life beyond treatment. Bonus Round also provides medical and psychiatric oversight to boost physical health and address co-occurring mental health conditions.
Design a Program That Fits
Bonus Round meets clients where they are in their recovery journey. Their PHP provides structured care 6 hours per day, 5 days per week, with the option to live in Bonus Round’s supportive housing. Their IOP ranges from 1-3 hours per day, 2-4 days per week, with flexible scheduling options that accommodate work, school, and home life.
Gain Lifelong Support
Bonus Round remains each client’s cheerleaders, support system, and community—for life. Their team maintains an open-door policy for program graduates, providing check-ins and crisis support. Each comprehensive aftercare plan includes connections to local AA and NA meetings, therapist and psychiatrist referrals, sober living options, and an active alumni network. Inspired by the founders’ own recovery, they also provide lifelong career support and entrepreneurial guidance to help clients rebuild purposeful, independent lives.

Specializations
Day Treatment
Also commonly called PHP, patients may live at home or in a recovery residence while following an intensive treatment program. Most have a weekly schedule of M–F and 4 to 6 hours per day.
Alcohol
Using alcohol as a coping mechanism, or drinking excessively throughout the week, signals an alcohol use disorder.
Cocaine
Cocaine is a stimulant with euphoric effects. Agitation, muscle ticks, psychosis, and heart issues are common symptoms of cocaine abuse.
Intensive Outpatient Program
In an IOP, patients live at home or a sober living, but attend treatment typically 9-15 hours a week. Most programs include talk therapy, support groups, and other methods.
Methamphetamine
Methamphetamine, or meth, increases energy, agitation, and paranoia. Long-term use can result in severe physical and mental health issues.
Opioids
Opioids produce pain-relief and euphoria, which can lead to addiction. This class of drugs includes prescribed medication and the illegal drug heroin.
Outpatient
During outpatient rehab, patients attend a structured treatment program while continuing to live at home.
Who We Treat
Men and Women
Men and women attend treatment for addiction in a co-ed setting, going to therapy groups together to share experiences, struggles, and successes.
Approaches
Evidence-Based
A combination of scientifically rooted therapies and treatments make up evidence-based care, defined by their measured and proven results.
Family Involvement
Providers involve family in the treatment of their loved one through family therapy, visits, or both–because addiction is a family disease.
Individual Treatment
Individual care meets the needs of each patient, using personalized treatment to provide them the most relevant care and greatest chance of success.
Therapies
1-on-1 Counseling
Patient and therapist meet 1-on-1 to work through difficult emotions and behavioral challenges in a personal, private setting.
Couples Counseling
Partners work to improve their communication patterns, using advice from their therapist to better their relationship and make healthy changes.
Experiential Therapy
With this approach, patients heal by doing. Therapists help patients process difficult emotions to speak, using guided activities like art or dance.
Family Therapy
Family therapy addresses group dynamics within a family system, with a focus on improving communication and interrupting unhealthy relationship patterns.
Life Skills
Teaching life skills like cooking, cleaning, clear communication, and even basic math provides a strong foundation for continued recovery.
Motivational Interviewing
Based on the idea that motivation to change comes from within, providers use a conversational framework to discover personalized methods for change.
