About Polaris Teen Center
The Polaris Teen Center aims to provide adolescents with a safe haven for recovery. They believe that teen mental health issues can be caused by a variety of factors, like trauma, biological predisposition, and environmental ones at home. The center has clinically trained staff who can treat teens struggling with depression, bipolar, anxiety and other mood disorders. They also treat destructive behaviors such as self-harm, substance abuse and eating disorders. Polaris Teen Center believes family involvement is important to effectively recovering. Polaris Teen Center uses a Didactic and Evidence-Based approach; they employ Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Post Induction Therapy, Family System Therapy, and Psychoeducational Group Therapy. They also offer experiential therapies such as surfing therapy, yoga, brain spotting therapy, meditation and mindfulness, martial arts and physical training, and somatic experiencing. They also have creative arts, art therapy and recreational therapy, such as hiking and swimming. Their medical team has degrees like a Doctor of Psychology, Doctor of Medicine in Psychiatry, Clinical Psychology and Pediatrics. They employ licensed therapists at Polaris Teen who are licensed clinical social workers (LCSW), licensed marriage and family therapists (LMFT), and associate marriage and family therapists (AMFT).
Polaris Teen Center has two residential homes, East Tarzana and West Tarzana. Both homes have shared bedrooms and bathrooms, and large living and dining spaces. West Tarzana is a new renovated Mediterranean-style home that has a panoramic balcony, large pool, hot tub and walk-in closets; this location also offers a private on-site chef. East Tarzana is a New England-style home that has been completely renovated with a California twist. East Tarzana also offers a private chef, a spa, and private terraces.
