About Pax Memphis
This Memphis-based outpatient treatment program provides a variety of solutions for people seeking healing from mental health conditions or addiction. They have a multi-disciplinary team that creates tailored treatment plans to address each client’s specific needs by combining medical and behavioral approaches. All clients with substance use disorders are assessed for co-occurring disorders and are given treatment for both. The facility provides a partial hospitalization program (PHP) and an intensive outpatient program (IOP).
Challenging the Addict Mentality
While Pax offers recovery skills, relapse prevention and 12-Step concepts, they also go deeper to understand the underpinnings of addiction. They specialize in a modality called Inner Child Therapy. This type of therapy addresses trauma and pieces apart negative shame messages that have caused clients to cope with drugs or alcohol. Pax often utilizes therapy groups to challenge feelings of shame. Therapy groups also serve as times to reinforce the 12-Steps. Most clients come to view the members of their group as family and a strong sobriety support system.
