About The Holiner Psychiatric Group
Established in 1983 by addiction psychiatrist Dr. Joel Holiner, The Holiner Psychiatric Group in Dallas, Texas, combines psychiatric care, psychotherapy, and addiction treatment in one outpatient practice. Their clinicians serve children, adolescents, adults, and older adults, treating depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, ADHD, obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), schizophrenia, and eating disorders. Adolescent psychiatry addresses developmental conditions, including autism, while geriatric services treat dementia and other later-life psychiatric conditions. Clinicians evaluate symptoms, medical histories, and previous treatments to develop individual care plans.
Psychotherapy, Medication, and Addiction Care
Psychiatrists manage medications through regular appointments, monitoring their effectiveness and adjusting dosages when needed. Therapists use cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), exposure and response prevention for OCD, and prolonged exposure and cognitive processing therapy for post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). For substance use disorders (SUD), clinicians provide individual and family counseling while treating co-occurring psychiatric conditions. Their Suboxone treatment for opioid addiction includes induction, maintenance appointments, ongoing counseling, and supervised tapering. Providers also use supportive psychotherapy and behavior modification to treat eating disorders.
Advanced Treatments and Specialized Evaluations
For treatment-resistant depression, clinicians provide Apollo Advanced transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) and Spravato (esketamine) nasal spray. TMS involves repeated in-office sessions without anesthesia, while Spravato requires medical supervision and at least 2 hours of monitoring after administration. The practice also offers TMS for OCD, computerized psychological testing, genetic drug sensitivity testing, and in-office urine drug screening. Additional services include emergent psychiatric evaluations and surgical clearance assessments, including evaluations of psychological readiness for bariatric surgery.

Supportive Medication for Recovery
Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT) is an evidence-based approach that pairs FDA-approved medications with counseling to treat addiction. The medications are used to reduce cravings, ease withdrawal symptoms, or block the effects of substances. More about MAT
Methadone
Naltrexone
Buprenorphine
Note: Treatment centers offer different forms of MAT—such as oral tablets, dissolvable films, or monthly injections—and their policies can vary based on state regulations, provider preferences, and insurance coverage. Because of these differences, it's best to contact the center directly to learn what options are available and what might be right for your situation.
