About SEARHC - Opioid Treatment Clinic
Near the coastal waters of Baranof Island, SEARHC’s Opioid Treatment Clinic in Sitka serves adults ages 18 and older across Southeast Alaska who are struggling with opioid, alcohol, stimulant, and other substance dependencies. The clinic is open Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. and Saturday from 7 to 10 a.m. Qualified addiction professionals conduct clinical assessments and develop individualized treatment plans, with services available both in person and virtually.
Opioid Treatment and Medications
They treat adults who meet criteria for moderate or severe opioid use disorder through a combination of medication and counseling, using 2 medications: Buprenorphine, a dissolving tablet or sublingual film placed under the tongue, and Methadone, provided daily as a liquid. Clients also participate in individual sessions, group services, and support for strengthening family and community recovery networks.
At-Home Dosing and IOP
Alongside in-clinic care, they operate an intensive outpatient program (IOP) and a virtual at-home dosing option through a partnership with Sonara. Methadone patients scan a tamper-aware label and record a video of themselves taking their medication, which the care team reviews remotely. This allows for daily oversight without requiring travel to the clinic.

Supportive Medication for Recovery
Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT) is an evidence-based approach that pairs FDA-approved medications with counseling to treat addiction. The medications are used to reduce cravings, ease withdrawal symptoms, or block the effects of substances. More about MAT
Methadone
Naltrexone
Buprenorphine
Note: Treatment centers offer different forms of MAT—such as oral tablets, dissolvable films, or monthly injections—and their policies can vary based on state regulations, provider preferences, and insurance coverage. Because of these differences, it's best to contact the center directly to learn what options are available and what might be right for your situation.
