About Fresh Start Health - Ashland
Respect for each patient’s history and recovery journey shapes the services at Fresh Start Health’s Ashland clinic. Its team combines addiction medicine, behavioral health, and primary care in one location. Clinicians treat opioid and alcohol use disorders alongside depression, anxiety, stress, grief, adjustment concerns, and co-occurring conditions, allowing patients to address substance use, mental health, and physical health with one coordinated team.
Assessment, Medication, and Counseling
Clinicians begin with an assessment of substance use, medical history, current medications, emotional health, daily functioning, and previous treatment. Medication-assisted treatment (MAT) may include Suboxone, Sublocade, or Brixadi for opioid use disorder and Vivitrol for opioid or alcohol use disorder. The team also provides individual and group counseling, therapy, and psychiatric medication management. Follow-up visits track medication response, side effects, recovery goals, and whether the treatment plan needs adjustment.
Access Through the Ashland Clinic
The Ashland team serves Boyd, Greenup, and Carter counties, including Catlettsburg, Russell, and Flatwoods, from Fresh Start Health’s founding and largest clinic. Most follow-up appointments can take place through telehealth, while patients visit the clinic for injections, laboratory testing, and some evaluations. Transportation is available, and patients do not need a referral. The medical team also treats hepatitis C and provides pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) for HIV prevention.

Center Overview

Supportive Medication for Recovery
Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT) is an evidence-based approach that pairs FDA-approved medications with counseling to treat addiction. The medications are used to reduce cravings, ease withdrawal symptoms, or block the effects of substances. More about MAT

Buprenorphine
Note: Treatment centers offer different forms of MAT—such as oral tablets, dissolvable films, or monthly injections—and their policies can vary based on state regulations, provider preferences, and insurance coverage. Because of these differences, it's best to contact the center directly to learn what options are available and what might be right for your situation.
