About Boston Health Care for the Homeless Program
The Boston Health Care for the Homeless Program (BHCHP) offers a welcoming hand, providing comprehensive medical and behavioral health care to neighbors without a home. Located in clinics throughout Greater Boston, including the main Jean Yawkey Place, the team brings vital mental health and substance use disorder treatment directly to people on the streets or in shelters. BHCHP’s goal is to offer healing, stability, and dignity to those who need it most.
Follow Pathways Toward Recovery
BHCHP provides a wide range of programs designed to help people take steps toward recovery and wellness. Mental health counselors, social workers, and psychiatrists offer therapy, counseling, and medication support. For substance use, the program follows harm-reduction principles and patient-led goals. Services may include office-based opioid treatment, outpatient support, and referrals to detox or residential programs. Each service is meant to guide individuals toward safety, strength, and long-term recovery.
Continue Healing Beyond First Steps
Clients find hope and stability through continued care, including the RISE Project, which supports individuals moving from jail back to the community. The SPOT (Supportive Place for Observation and Treatment) site provides safe monitoring for those at risk of overdose. Case managers connect clients with housing, benefits, and appointments, helping them regain stability. By focusing on long-lasting care and trust, BHCHP fosters hope, healing, and a stronger sense of community for every person it serves.
