About Blue Ridge Behavioral Healthcare - Child, Youth and Family Services
Serves children and adolescents who are dealing with serious emotional disturbances, substance use, or developmental challenges. These services are provided through outpatient counseling, community-based programs, and psychiatric evaluations. Blue Ridge Behavioral Healthcare's Child, Youth, & Family Services division also provides case management and care coordination to connect families with the right supports. This comprehensive system is designed to help young clients meet their treatment goals by involving family members and guardians in the process.
Engage in Collaborative, Evidence-Based Treatment
Treatment relies on a collaborative process that includes assessment, planning, and advocacy to meet a family's complete health needs. Therapists use proven, evidence-based practices in individual, family, and group counseling settings. These methods include dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR) for trauma, and parent-child interactive therapy. By using these targeted therapies, clients and their families can develop skills, improve family functioning, and achieve greater emotional well-being and social success.
Access Specialized, Team-Based Programs
The center provides a highly focused, team-based treatment for youth and young adults ages 14 to 35 experiencing their first episode of psychosis. This coordinated specialty care program includes psychiatry, case management, and employment support. For younger children ages 3 to 17, the center offers psychiatric evaluations, medication management, and case consultation through telemedicine. Furthermore, specific care coordination is available to help families navigate and access essential behavioral health, social, and educational supports within the community.
