About American Detox & Treatment Center - Taylors
Serving Greenville and communities across Upstate South Carolina, American Detox & Treatment Center - Taylors operates a 40-bed recovery center where adults receive medically supervised detox and residential treatment in one location. The center treats substance use disorders and co-occurring mental health conditions through trauma-informed care while offering specialized programs for veterans and first responders.
Transition From Detox to Residential Care
Medical detox typically lasts 7 to 10 days and provides 24/7 supervision from nurses and medical technicians who monitor withdrawal symptoms, vital signs, hydration, and overall health. A psychiatric nurse practitioner or consulting psychiatrist supports clients with co-occurring depression, anxiety, or post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). Once medically stable, clients move directly into the residential program, which lasts up to 30 days. Licensed therapists lead individual and group sessions using cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), motivational interviewing, psychoeducation, relapse prevention, and coping skills training. Specialized programs help veterans and first responders address service-related trauma, and occupational stress, while expressive therapies, including art and journaling, equine-assisted therapy through Guiding Reins, and family therapy over Zoom expand treatment options.
Recharge On Site and Plan for Discharge
Clients stay in private or semi-private, climate-controlled rooms with flatscreen TVs and have access to a pool, fitness center, walking paths, ping pong, and shared lounge areas between therapy sessions. Before discharge, a dedicated discharge coordinator develops a personalized aftercare plan with referrals to outpatient treatment and community resources throughout Greenville and the Upstate region.
