About The Marina Counseling Center - Marina
Located south of Fort Mason Park, the Marina Counseling Center on Union Street sees adults, children, teens, couples, and families for scheduled outpatient therapy in San Francisco’s Marina District. Clients start with a free 30-minute phone consultation. They then match each client with a supervised master’s-level associate or trainee based on their concerns, preferences, and availability. Clients can attend sessions in person or use virtual therapy from anywhere in California. Appointment availability depends on each therapist’s schedule.
Therapy Services and Approaches
Therapists work with anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), neurodivergence, burnout, identity concerns, family conflict, relationship problems, and life transitions. They offer individual, couples, child, teen, and family therapy. Depending on the therapist, sessions may use psychodynamic, relational, somatic, mindfulness-based, narrative, person-centered, expressive, strengths-based, gottman method, emotionally focused therapy, or internal family systems (IFS) approaches. Some therapists work with LGBTQ+, BIPOC, immigrant, neurodivergent, intercultural, and nontraditional relationship communities.
Cost and Payment
A standard 50-minute session costs $175. Sliding-scale sessions start at $50 with master’s-level trainees and $80 with associate marriage and family therapists. Lower-cost openings may have a waitlist. The center accepts HSA debit cards and can provide superbills for clients seeking possible out-of-network reimbursement.
