Support Through Every Step
A range of approaches guide therapy at the San Francisco Marriage and Couples Center, from emotionally focused therapy (EFT), cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), motivational interviewing (MI), eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR), and dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) to psychodynamic, attachment-based, Gestalt, somatic, and relational methods. Therapists also incorporate the Gottman Method, accelerated experiential dynamic psychotherapy (AEDP), psychobiological approach to couples therapy (PACT), internal family systems (IFS), hypnotherapy, expressive arts, and mindfulness-based methods.
Understanding Patterns and Finding Connection
At the San Francisco Marriage and Couples Center, therapists work with LGBTQIA+ clients, neurodivergent clients, immigrants, and people from diverse cultural backgrounds, as well as consensually non-monogamous and polyamorous relationships. They explore relationship dynamics in real time and incorporate body awareness and communication exercises to help clients identify patterns and find new ways of relating. The center also provides perinatal mental health care, relationship coaching, and executive coaching for workplace partnerships.
