About Center for Community Counseling and Wellness
Removing barriers to mental healthcare, the Center for Community Counseling and Wellness provides free to low-cost therapy for adults 18+ who live or work in San Francisco. The center serves low-income, uninsured, marginalized, and otherwise vulnerable people who may face financial, linguistic, cultural, or logistical barriers to care. Clients can access individual, couples, and family therapy in person or through telehealth, with therapists tailoring services to each client’s clinical needs.
Centering Culture and Lived Experience
Center for Community Counseling and Wellness provides trauma-informed, culturally responsive care grounded in equity, inclusion, and engagement. Therapists consider each client’s culture, identity, relationships, and lived experiences when planning care, using evidence-based approaches alongside psychoeducation and connections to community resources. Their varied clinical interests help them support people navigating trauma, grief, identity, neurodivergence, relationship concerns, and major life changes. Some clinicians also bring bilingual and multicultural perspectives, including a therapist fluent in English and Mandarin.
Training the Next Generation of Therapists
As part of the University of San Francisco, the center also serves as a training clinic for graduate Marriage and Family Therapy students who have completed their core coursework. Licensed clinicians provide ongoing supervision while helping trainees develop skills in trauma-informed strategies, cultural humility, and evidence-based practices.
