Calm Again Counseling
About Calm Again Counseling
A trauma-informed counseling practice, Calm Again Counseling matches each client with a therapist based on their needs, preferences, values, and communication style. The process begins with a 15-minute consultation, then the practice pairs each client with a licensed therapist based on the consultation. The practice provides therapy for teens, adults, couples, and families experiencing trauma, anxiety, depression, eating disorders, PTSD, complex PTSD, relationship concerns, and other mental health concerns through its San Francisco office and secure online therapy for clients throughout California, including Oakland and North Hollywood.
Therapy Matched to Each Client
Therapists review each client's history, current concerns, and goals before developing a treatment plan that evolves as therapy progresses. They examine the experiences behind symptoms and may combine cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR), Internal Family Systems, Brainspotting, somatic therapy, exposure therapy, play therapy, and mindfulness to guide treatment.
Extending Therapy Beyond Sessions
Clients participate in discussions, therapeutic exercises, and practical assignments that continue between appointments to reinforce skills that therapists introduce during therapy.. For teen counseling, therapists may invite parents to join check-ins or joint sessions and coordinate with teachers, school staff, social workers, nutritionists, or psychiatrists when collaboration benefits the client's care.
