About Bay Area Group Therapy Center - Oakland
Focusing on the unique power of belonging to a healing community, Bay Area Group Therapy Center offers in-person and virtual group therapy for adults, primarily ages 25 and older, or 21+ in some situations. In-person process therapy groups include mixed-gender groups, women/non-binary/trans groups, and majority BIPOC and majority LGBTQIA+ groups. Online neurodiverse-inclusive groups are open to residents of California and Connecticut.
Process Therapy in the Present Moment
The center offers process therapy groups that help clients understand relationship patterns through present-moment interactions and real-time peer feedback. Groups support communication, emotional regulation, self-awareness, connection, and navigating conflict. Bay Area Group Therapy Center uses relational, attachment-focused, body-oriented, mindfulness, and somatically informed approaches. Group therapy may help people experiencing anxiety, depression, anger, self-doubt, perfectionism, disconnection, and difficulties sustaining relationships.
A Place to Practice New Ways of Relating
Groups typically have 4 to 8 members, with placement based on a collaborative pre-group process. Bay Area Group Therapy Center also offers introductory group experiences, online therapist process training, and consultation groups, including a BIPOC relational sociocultural consultation group for BIPOC-identified therapists. A limited number of individual therapy slots are available for clients who want to work individually and in group with the same therapist.
