Severance House
About Severance House
This center is a structured sober living home in the Montrose area of Houston, Texas, serving adults 18+ in early recovery. Designed especially for LGBTQIA+ residents and allies, the home supports up to 20 residents in a safe, affirming environment. Clear house expectations, curfews, peer accountability, and routine drug and alcohol testing help protect sobriety and promote stability.
Skills for Independence
Residents move through a multi-phase recovery approach, stabilization, structure, growth, and transition, gaining responsibility and privileges as they progress. Many complete a 16-week Foundations curriculum focused on budgeting, relapse prevention, work readiness, and daily living skills. Weekly house meetings, SMART Recovery groups, and peer leadership opportunities strengthen accountability and connection.
Clinical Support, Coordinated Care
Optional individual and group therapy is available onsite or by telehealth through licensed clinicians. Light case management helps coordinate medical care, outpatient services, detox, day treatment, and medication-assisted treatment (MAT) clinics through formal referral partners. Discharge planning begins at intake, supporting smooth transitions to employment, continued care, and long-term housing stability.
Center Overview
Supportive Medication for Recovery
Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT) is an evidence-based approach that pairs FDA-approved medications with counseling to treat addiction. The medications are used to reduce cravings, ease withdrawal symptoms, or block the effects of substances. More about MAT
Methadone
Naltrexone
Buprenorphine
This center accepts patients receiving MAT prescribed elsewhere for opioid use disorder, but does not provide MAT.
Note: Treatment centers offer different forms of MAT—such as oral tablets, dissolvable films, or monthly injections—and their policies can vary based on state regulations, provider preferences, and insurance coverage. Because of these differences, it's best to contact the center directly to learn what options are available and what might be right for your situation.
