About Journey House Recovery Residences
VARR (Virginia Association of Recovery Residences) and DBHDS (Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Services) certified, Journey House Recovery Residences offers affordable, structured, drug- and alcohol-free housing for men and women ages 18+ across Henrico and the Metro Richmond area. As part of the larger Journey House Recovery Center network, it connects clients leaving treatment with a broader system of recovery care, community support, and purposeful guidance toward independent living. Individuals are also welcome to live in Journey House’s residences while participating in outpatient treatment.
Launch Into a Thriving and Healthy Life
Residents live in Level 2 monitored or Level 3 supervised recovery housing. Level 2 homes are peer run with a senior resident on site and suit people who are stable in early recovery and benefit from accountability. Residents follow house rules and curfews, take regular drug and alcohol tests, and attend recovery meetings, with peer-to-peer support at the center of each day.
Level 3 homes balance independence with staff oversight and suit people who need more supervision and skill-building before moving to Level 2 housing or fully independent living. On-site staff trained in recovery support (though not necessarily clinical) lead recovery programming, life-skills development, case management, and structured drug and alcohol testing. Residents at both levels also receive employment support and connect with mentors. Recovery support is available through the Journey House Foundation, and clinical treatment is available off site through Journey House Behavioral Health.
Build Independence in a Supportive Community
Homes are monitored by a house manager and offer shared or private bedrooms, clean bathrooms, a full kitchen, common areas, Wi-Fi, and utilities at low daily rates. Residents typically work while living at Journey House to pay their bed fees. Journey House offers a deferred payment plan, and grant funding for up to 4 weeks is also available for individuals in need. Living alongside peers who share the same commitment to sobriety builds accountability and connection in Richmond’s recovery community.
