About Sheepgate Men's Program
Sheepgate is a nonprofit rehab program and a division of Adult + Teen Challenge of the Midlands. They provide faith-based, gender-specific treatment for men. Their 12-month program is highly structured and different from many traditional recovery programs. One of the key differentiators is their faith-centered teachings. They use biblical principles to overcome the difficulties of addiction, depression, and anxiety. Through their Bible-based curriculum, residents will learn how to apply God's work in their lives through instruction, independent study, 1-on-1 counseling, work-ethics instruction, and participation in the Christian society.
Sheepgate has a strong work program for residents to learn new skills. They work with many other companies that hire the residents for carpentry, mechanics, thrift store work, and so much more. Their work experience programs enable residents to learn about various professions and pick up practical skills like responsibility, teamwork, communication, and initiative. Additionally, they help those who desire to get GED if not already obtained.
Sheepgate has 2 houses. During the initial recovery phase men are house in Colfax, Iowa and then moved to Omaha, Nebraska where they can live out what they learned in an historic home with more freedom and peer support. During the first 7 months, men are housed in dormitory-style accommodations in Colfax, Iowa. Rooms are shared with other residents and work projects are a key component throughout the program. Men will be expected to keep their areas clean with additional work tasks that can include racking, lawn work, helping feed the farm animals, daily house chores, and others. The last phase of the program takes place in Omaha, Nebraska. This part of the program is designed to give men the opportunity to live out their sober life, outside of Sheepgate. Here they gain more freedom to find jobs and new hobbies while maintaining sobriety.
Sheepgate boasts of a 70% percent success rate. Upon acceptance into the program, residents are simply asked to pay a small intake fee of $750. Commitment is key to the program's success and the compassionate staff at Sheepgate wants the best for everyone who attends their program.
