About Rogers Behavioral Health - Nashotah
The Nashotah Center for Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) by Rogers Behavioral Health is a residential program for adolescents and teens ages 12-18, offering personally tailored intensive treatment for mental health conditions, eating disorders, depression, anxiety, mood and personality disorders, self-harm, trouble with emotional regulation and more. Their 16-bed facility is located on over 50 acres of scenic wooded and lakeside surroundings, within Rogers Behavioral Health’s Oconomowoc treatment center.
Clients reside in a comfortable, home-like environment, surrounded by soothing color schemes and comforting decor, with semi-private rooms. The property includes a lounge area and group therapy room, with walking trails, a labyrinth and gardens, experiential therapy rooms, and a ropes challenge course located on campus grounds.
Treatment is individually tailored to the unique needs of each teen, involving methods immersed in dialectical behavior therapy, and a blend of experiential activities, spiritual care, and family involvement. Experiential therapies may include art, dance, or music therapy, pet therapy, horticultural therapy; and recreational movement activities such as yoga, paddleboarding, ropes course, and therapeutically designed games.
In the local Potawatomi Native American language, Nashotah means “twin”, representing that their clients often struggle with dual, conflicting thoughts. Dialectical behavior therapy has proven to help relieve symptoms and lead to improved personal safety and relationships by helping patients become accepting of where they are now, while also acknowledging the need to work toward improvement and healthy changes.
