About Rocky Mountain Treatment Center
Rocky Mountain Treatment Center’s intimate 26-bed center offers a family-style environment where clients are known by name and fully supported. They specialize in a 30-day detox and residential program, with options for extended care. Their program treats the mental, emotional, physical, and spiritual roots of addiction. Whether clients are ready for same-day admission or need a safe ride from anywhere in Montana, Rocky Mountain is here to walk with them toward a better life.
At Rocky Mountain Treatment, healing isn’t just about breaking free from addiction—it’s about rewriting the way clients live their lives. Their lifestyle-based program goes beyond treating symptoms to help clients reimagine their daily habits, routines, and sense of self. Over 80% of their staff have walked this road themselves, so they surround clients with compassion and empathy. The team uses powerful therapies that empower clients to rediscover their values, explore spirituality, and simply learn how to find joy in everyday life again.
Set against the backdrop of Helena, Montana, Rocky Mountain Treatment Center is housed in a 103-year-old building that radiates warmth and character. Inside, clients are welcomed into a peaceful home-like environment. On Saturdays, clients enjoy recreational afternoons from 3-5pm, with access to pool tables, ping-pong, cornhole, and outdoor games that bring joy. Surrounded by Montana’s natural beauty, clients can go on boat rides at Gates of the Mountains and visit the historic Buffalo Jump.

Just 10 miles from campus, clients are transported to a sprawling ranch with 9 incredible horses, where they participate in equine therapy. Here, horses become mirrors—sensing what words often can’t express. Their instincts pick up on fear, anger, and emotional disconnect, gently challenging clients to drop their defenses and show up authentically. Equine therapy speaks directly to the nervous system and the heart, as clients learn to regulate emotions and stay grounded in the present moment.
Rooted in Native American culture and spiritual principles, Wellbriety is a program that helps clients understand who they are beyond addiction. With the help of a counselor, clients take part in mind mapping to understand their purpose and experience traditional sweat lodge ceremonies—which offer a space to release pain and connect with internal strength. For those seeking a more spiritual, meaningful journey to recovery, Wellbriety offers a path forward.
Every other week, Rocky Mountain Treatment Center hosts a 3-day, in-person family program designed to create breakthroughs in trust and healing. Held Monday through Wednesday, this immersive experience—led by a seasoned family counselor—gives clients’ families the space to learn about codependency, addiction as a disease, and healthy boundaries. Plus, with guided group counseling, families begin to shift old patterns and make room for something new.
Within 24-48 hours of completing treatment, alumni receive a personal follow-up call, with additional check-ins at 60 and 90 days, to make sure no one feels alone in the transition. From the annual September reunion and BBQ dinner with speakers, to weekly “Sober Life” events and group therapy meetups, Rocky Mountain Treatment creates opportunities to reconnect and keep recovery alive.

Rocky was the best treatment experience I could have hoped for. The curriculum is incredibly well balanced. I received education about how addiction affects the mind and body, a thorough introduction to the 12 - step programs and the culture of the recovery community. They had engaging activities to bond with others in recovery, and plenty of opportunities to get outdoors. The equine and family programs provided excellent healing and my counselor added an expertly targeted set of additional therapy to address my own unique issues. I wish I had done this years ago. Thank you so much Rocky!
