Wilderness Therapy

Triple Divide Lodge is a 90-day program combining residential treatment with wilderness therapy for adolescent males ages 14-19 struggling with substance use. The founder, Patrick Hawkins, is a Licensed Addictions Counselor who felt called to this work while addressing the same issues himself during high school. Since then, he has led over 50 expeditions with hundreds of teens. An expert in experiential therapy, Patrick’s passion combined with his experience has created a truly unique program for boys.

Hands-On Learning

Triple Divide Lodge offers residential and outdoor training to help young men overcome their struggles with substance misuse. To lay the groundwork for change, they use individual, group, and family therapy, which is followed by a multi-day group excursion. Through hands-on learning and skill development, their outdoor adventure programs help adolescents find freedom in recovery.

12-Step Training

The wilderness portion of treatment teaches young men how to cooperate and support one another on their individual journeys, and face any difficulty head on. On-site counselors also help develop new constructive coping mechanisms using a trauma-informed approach. Clients can use the abilities acquired in individual sessions, outdoor activities, and 12-Step training to better regulate their emotions and actions rather than falling back on old routines.

Mountainside Setting

Triple Divide Lodge in Montana makes for an ideal setting for a wilderness therapy program. Their 338-acre campus is surrounded by gorgeous scenery and plenty of opportunities for expeditions. Boys reside in log cabins, with each cabin housing up to 6 clients. During expedition weeks, boys will sleep in tents. Depending on the time of year, either 4 season tents or 3 season tents will be used. Numerous activities take place at the campus including hiking, fishing, frisbee golf, rappelling, cross country skiing, and sports. "TDL is a licensed private pay facility that works with insurance to maximize available benefits for all clients."
