About Safehaus Sanctuary
Creating a supportive bridge from crisis back to everyday life, Safehaus Sanctuary provides short-term intensive crisis residential care for youth ages 7-17 experiencing trauma, anxiety, depression, anger, or grief and loss. Their six-child residences support hospital diversion after psychiatric emergencies and hospital step-down before outpatient care, with stays averaging 10-12 days.
Navigate Crisis with Support
Individual, group, family, art, and didactic therapy combine with psychiatric evaluation, medication management, nursing, and daily one-on-one mentoring. They often use cognitive behavioral approaches while teaching relaxation, anger management, problem-solving, communication, and boundary-setting skills. Family sessions work through conflict, diagnosis, treatment planning, and each youth’s Safety Crisis Prevention Plan.
Maintain Routine Through Care
Residents share bedrooms with two or three youths, continue schoolwork, receive hygiene supplies, and have recreational time each day. This small residential setting typically maintains one staff member for every three youth and increases supervision when needed, while Safehaus supports family attendance with transportation and coordinates appointments, medications, and services after discharge.
