The Journey Therapy
About The Journey Therapy
Located on the coast of Kailua Bay, The Journey Therapy treats adults and adolescents with eating disorders, trauma, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), anxiety, body image concerns, and relationship problems through outpatient care in Kailua, Hawaii. Clients can attend an eating disorder intensive outpatient program (IOP), individual therapy, group therapy, family therapy, couples therapy, EMDR, or neurofeedback. They see clients in person and also offer online therapy.
Eating Disorder and Mental Health Treatment
The eating disorder IOP lets clients remain at work, school, and home while receiving more structured care than standard weekly therapy. Treatment addresses restrictive eating, binge eating, binge-purge patterns, and body image concerns. Groups may cover nutrition education, dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) skills, experiential exercises, and somatic body-based work. They also use eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR) for trauma-related concerns such as PTSD, panic, grief, phobias, and disturbing memories. Neurofeedback focuses on nervous-system regulation, stress responses, and emotional stability.
Individual, Family, and Relationship Care
Clients can work 1-on-1 with a therapist or include partners and family members when relationship and family patterns affect treatment. Family therapy addresses communication and the home environment around eating disorder recovery, while couples therapy examines attachment, communication, and recurring relationship patterns. They also treat women dealing with anxiety, disordered eating, body image concerns, attachment wounds, boundaries, and emotional shutdown.
