About The Center for Counseling and Consultation - The Heritage
Children ages 4 to 18 who meet the criteria for serious emotional disturbance (SED) can receive community-based services (CBS) through The Center for Counseling and Consultation - The Heritage. Staff work with children, adolescents, and caregivers at home, at school, and in the community to develop positive behaviors and strengthen family relationships.
Learning Through Creative Group Activities
The program runs several specialized groups, including a 9-week art group for ages 12 to 15, where teens use paint, crayons, and markers to express themselves; a Trading Card group for middle and high school students, which uses card-based activities to develop social communication; and a 9-week Friendship Group for grades 1 to 3, which teaches manners and boundaries.
Mental Health Support at School
Through the Mental Health Intervention Team (MHIT), licensed clinicians provide on-site mental health support in participating schools. The team delivers early intervention and short-term support, then connects students with ongoing counseling and CBS when needed. The program also runs respite groups during summer and school breaks and Pre-K groups that help younger children develop social skills.
