About Stacie Matthewson Behavioral Health and Addiction Institute
Set along Kirman Avenue in Reno and operated by Renown Health, this outpatient center delivers mental health and substance use care through intensive outpatient programs (IOP), psychiatry, and addiction medicine. Services include psychiatric and psychological assessments, medication management, and 1-to-1, family, couples, and group counseling for children, teens, adults, and first responders.
How Treatment Is Delivered
Patients begin with psychological and psychiatric assessments, then attend scheduled sessions with psychiatrists, psychologists, counselors, and social workers. Treatment includes cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), and eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR). Some patients attend in-office transcranial magnetic stimulation (rTMS) sessions for depression.
Weekly Program Structure
Intensive outpatient programs (IOP) run about 5 weeks with sessions 3 days a week for 3 hours per day, totaling 15 sessions. Adolescents attend after school. The center also offers a separate outpatient program for first responders. After assessment and insurance authorization, patients begin scheduled program days that include group therapy and individual or family sessions, with clinicians providing medication management during program hours while patients continue school or work outside of sessions.
