About Shepherd Recovery Centers
Faith and evidence-based treatment come together for adults seeking outpatient care for alcohol or drug addiction. Shepherd Recovery Centers provides day treatment (PHP), intensive outpatient treatment (IOP), and outpatient therapy in Missouri City, Texas. The program also addresses co-occurring anxiety, depression, trauma, PTSD, and bipolar disorder alongside substance use disorders (SUD). Clients may choose to include Christian-based recovery programming alongside evidence-based treatment, and the program welcomes people from all backgrounds.
Clinical Therapy and Accountability
Licensed clinicians use cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), motivational interviewing, 1-to-1 counseling, group therapy, and family therapy. They provide medication management, nursing assessments, relapse prevention planning, and scheduled or random drug testing. Clinicians review progress, adjust treatment plans, and use drug testing results to guide care. Clients who choose to include faith in their recovery can participate in optional prayer, scripture reflection, spiritual groups, and pastoral mentorship.
Structured Recovery Progression
Clients begin with a clinical assessment that determines the level of care, therapy schedule, and recovery goals. In day treatment (PHP), they attend programming about 25 to 30 hours each week, while intensive outpatient treatment (IOP) typically meets 9 to 15 hours weekly. Sessions include individual counseling, group therapy, family education, and relapse prevention planning. Before discharge, clients complete an aftercare plan and transition into continuing care or a lower level of treatment.
