About Recovery Innovations
Since its founding in 2004, Recovery Innovations has built its nonprofit substance use treatment around plans that clients and clinicians develop together. They address substance use and related mental health difficulties through 3 outpatient levels. Traditional outpatient involves fewer than 9 hours weekly, the intensive outpatient program (IOP) provides 9-19 hours, and partial care exceeds 20 hours. They open 6 days each week and generally offer evening appointments.
Assessment and Family Participation
Therapists assess substance use, mental health, family relationships, and medical, work, and legal history to guide treatment planning. Individual sessions build on clients’ strengths, while process, educational, and gender-specific groups give clients opportunities to practice communication and socialization skills. Family therapy addresses communication and substance-related conflicts, and traditional outpatient can include couples counseling. For clients involved in sentencing proceedings, clinicians also prepare formal substance use evaluation reports that attorneys can present to judges or prosecutors.
Psychiatric Care within Substance Use Treatment
A consultant psychiatrist provides psychiatric care specifically to clients enrolled in substance use treatment programs. Appointments typically begin with an evaluation and continue with monthly medication monitoring visits to manage mental health symptoms using psychotropic medication. Social workers and counselors provide accompanying therapy. Clinicians also use urine, breath, saliva, and hair testing to monitor substance use during treatment. Treatment length depends on substance use severity, personal history, circumstances, referral requirements, and attainment of treatment plan goals.
