About Orchard Place Child Guidance Center
Orchard Place is a Des Moines-based nonprofit that provides mental health treatment for children, adolescents, and young adults in Iowa. Through its inpatient, outpatient, and community-based programs, Orchard Place serves youth from birth to age 21. Its services span the Child Guidance Center, PACE Center, and Residential Campus, with a trauma-sensitive approach across programs.
Find Therapy and Psychiatric Support for Youth
Orchard Place Child Guidance Center serves children and families from birth to age 18 through outpatient therapy, school-based therapy, psychiatric care, and early childhood services. The center supports youth experiencing concerns such as attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), autism, anxiety, depression, mood dysregulation, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), and other trauma-related challenges.

Child Guidance Center provides services for families across central Iowa and beyond, with outpatient and psychiatric care available to children from throughout the state. Its school-based therapists partner with dozens of schools across multiple districts, helping bring care into the communities where children learn and grow. Orchard Place also offers a sliding fee scale for families who need financial flexibility.
Build Skills Through Trauma-Informed Therapies
Providers at Child Guidance Center use several evidence-based and child-centered approaches, including trauma-focused cognitive behavioral therapy (TF-CBT), eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR), trust-based relational intervention (TBRI), motivational interviewing (MI), child-parent psychotherapy (CPP), and play therapy. Treatment is tailored to each child and family’s needs, with an emphasis on compassionate, individualized care.
