Set on the southwest side of the Twin Cities, NorthStar Regional's Sugar Creek campus supports clients seeking treatment for alcohol or drug addiction with intensive outpatient (IOP) treatment. This campus also offers lodging for men, while their nearby Walnut Street campus offers lodging for women. For clients who prefer to meet virtually, NorthStar Regional offers telehealth through Zoom, doxy.me, or Elevate.

NorthStar has experience supporting clients with DUIs.

Evidence-Based Therapy

NorthStar Regional takes an evidence-based and 12-Step approach to therapy with individual and group therapy plus medication to reduce cravings. Their therapy team includes psychologists, licensed professional clinical counselors, licensed marriage and family therapists, licensed independent clinical social workers, and licensed alcohol and drug counselors.

Clients participate in 2 group sessions a week for 3 hours at a time, a 4.5-hour group session each week, and a weekly check-in with a counselor. After completing treatment, clients can transition into an aftercare portion that includes additional support through NorthStar Regional and nearby AA or NA groups.

Lodging and Additional Support

For the intensive outpatient program (IOP) with lodging, clients receive additional support in a 3-phase approach that starts with 20 hours of therapy a week. It includes additional programming for family topics, change management, living skills, and meditation. The length of each phase varies based on client needs. Staff work with clients to determine when to move to the next phase.
