About Northern Illinois Recovery Center - Outpatient Crystal Lake
Northern Illinois Recovery Center offers two adult outpatient levels of care in Crystal Lake, Illinois: a partial hospitalization program (PHP) and an intensive outpatient program (IOP). Both treat substance use and co-occurring mental health conditions while clients live at home, and both are licensed by IDHS/SUPR and accredited by The Joint Commission. PHP is the more intensive option, running several hours a day, 3 to 5 days a week, for about a month. IOP is the step down, running 9 to 15 hours a week over 3 to 5 days, usually across 8 to 12 weeks.
Match the Level of Care to the Need
PHP fits people who need more than weekly therapy but not around the clock supervision, including those leaving inpatient care. IOP offers daytime and evening tracks, so people can keep working, parenting, or going to school while they get treatment. Many clients move from PHP down to IOP as they build independence.
Work Through Proven Therapies
Both programs combine individual, group, and family therapy with cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), plus holistic options like mindfulness, yoga, and art therapy. Going home each evening lets clients practice new skills in real life and bring challenges back to their team. Both levels treat alcohol, opioid, cocaine, and fentanyl use while addressing conditions like anxiety, depression, and PTSD.
Know What to Expect
Getting started begins with a short confidential call, same day insurance verification, and a clinical assessment at the Crystal Lake campus. Treatment stays confidential under HIPAA, and a positive drug screen guides care rather than ending it. After PHP or IOP, most people continue with outpatient care, alumni support, and an aftercare plan.
