About Merakey School Street - Scranton
Helping people with autism communicate, learn, and move toward greater independence, Merakey School Street is a therapeutic and educational autism services center for children, adolescents, young adults, adults, and families. They address communication needs, behavioral and emotional concerns, social development, and challenges affecting school, work, relationships, and everyday life through applied behavioral analysis and specialized developmental care.
Build Confidence for Adulthood
Their applied behavioral analysis (ABA) services strengthen attention, listening, imitation, reading, conversation, perspective-taking, and other functional skills. Specialized therapies, transition planning, family involvement, independence coaching, and pre-vocational training help people apply progress across home, school, work, and community settings while building confidence for future goals.
Grow Independence with Confidence
Located along School Street, this center is part of Merakey, a nonprofit dedicated to helping people, families, and communities. Merakey began in Philadelphia in 1969 as The Northwest Center, later became NHS Human Services, and has grown into a multi-state provider serving 12 states across behavioral health, autism, addiction recovery, intellectual and developmental disability, education, foster care, aging, and veteran services. At this location, they carry that mission forward by strengthening communication, independence, confidence, and fuller participation in community life.
