About Merakey Orange Avenue
Supporting healthy development, stronger families, and greater independence, Merakey Orange Avenue is a child, family, and developmental services center for children, adolescents, young adults, families, and people with intellectual or developmental disabilities. They address emotional and behavioral concerns, communication and social needs, and challenges with daily routines through youth mental healthcare, developmental support, and practical skill building.
Build Skills for Daily Life
Their youth services include therapy, psychiatry, family-centered treatment, school collaboration, crisis guidance, and community care. Developmental services include behavior planning, employment preparation, personal-care training, supported living, case coordination, and community habilitation. When needs extend beyond these services, they can also help connect people with community living or group homes, specialized residential homes, and respite care.
Support Greater Independence
Located along Orange Avenue, this center is part of Merakey, a nonprofit dedicated to helping people, families, and communities. Merakey began in Philadelphia in 1969 as The Northwest Center, later became NHS Human Services, and has grown into a multi-state provider serving 12 states across behavioral health, autism, addiction recovery, intellectual and developmental disability, education, foster care, aging, and veteran services. At this location, they carry that mission forward by strengthening communication, practical skills, relationships, and greater independence.
