Merakey North Walnut Street

Strengthening families and helping young people stay safely connected to their communities, Merakey North Walnut Street is a child and family behavioral health center for youth ages 11 through 18 and families involved with multiple service systems. They address family conflict, behavioral concerns, safety risks, abuse or neglect factors, and circumstances that may lead to out-of-home placement.

Strengthen Safety through Family

They use functional family therapy to reduce conflict, improve relationships, and strengthen family functioning through community-based care. They also provide multi-systemic therapy–child abuse and neglect, an intensive approach that addresses abuse- and neglect-related risks within the family’s daily environment. These services help families build safer relationships, clearer communication, and more stable routines.

Located along North Walnut Street, this center is part of Merakey, a nonprofit dedicated to helping people, families, and communities. Merakey began in Philadelphia in 1969 as The Northwest Center, later became NHS Human Services, and has grown into a multi-state provider serving 12 states across behavioral health, autism, addiction recovery, intellectual and developmental disability, education, foster care, aging, and veteran services. At this location, they carry that mission forward by strengthening families, reducing placement risk, and supporting lasting change.
