About Merakey Gompers Avenue
Promoting positive development, family wellbeing, and greater independence, Merakey Gompers Avenue is a child, family, and developmental services center for children, adolescents, young adults, families, and people with intellectual or developmental disabilities. They address emotional concerns, behavioral needs, communication barriers, family challenges, and daily-living difficulties through youth mental healthcare, developmental services, and practical skill building.
Support Growth across Needs
Their youth services include therapy, psychiatry, family-centered treatment, school collaboration, crisis guidance, and community care. Developmental services add behavior planning, employment preparation, personal-care instruction, community habilitation, case coordination, and access to prescribed therapies. When additional support is needed, they can also help connect or refer people to community living or group homes, specialized residential homes, and respite care.
Build More Independent Futures
Located along Gompers Avenue, this center is part of Merakey, a nonprofit dedicated to helping people, families, and communities. Merakey began in Philadelphia in 1969 as The Northwest Center, later became NHS Human Services, and has grown into a multi-state provider serving 12 states across behavioral health, autism, addiction recovery, intellectual and developmental disability, education, foster care, aging, and veteran services. At this location, they carry that mission forward by supporting practical skills, stronger relationships, personal choice, and greater independence.
